Heybridge Swifts 0 – 5 Thurrock

We were playing home again after few matches played away. escudo thurrock fcLast time we played it was against Kins Langley FC and we didn’t get a really good result. We were fired from the FA Trophy. It was an absolutely disapointing result after our great effort. We were showing a really good perfomances so we went to that game absolutely convince that we could get it a good chance to improve our selfs.

Date: Saturday 5th November of 2016
K.O: 3 pm
Stadium: Texo Stadium (Scraley Road)
Match: HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS FC (@officialSwifts) - Thurrock FC (@ThurrockFC)

As normally when we play home Jody texted us to meet everyone at 1.30 pm. Just before go and get change everyone stay in the bar just talking and watching for a few minutes a football game on the television.

Yesterday Dark was suspended (5 yellow cards), Nick was ill and Cole (captain) was injuried. However in the last games as I’ve already said before we been doing well. It shouldn’t be any problema at all. Obviously every game needs to be played and everyone needs to run 100%.

To be honest, I think we are starting the games quiet good until… (I will describe at the end of the post which is my point of view about our non successfull games: good performances, bad results)

We start with the following 11 I am sharing on the next image: Sambridge, Alieu, Riley, Ando, Guillem, Glover (c), Godbold, Little, Jamie, Reece, Barham

11 starter against Thurrock FC

1st HALF

We started the game with a high level of intensity, good in terms of possession, chances and dominate the game but when we didn’t score a goal and after a bad defensively corner, we were losing 0-1 (14′). Actually our mistakes are punishing us a lot.

The second goal was almost immediately after the first. Just 7 minutes later, 0-2 (21′). In that case, when we just received a goal we should try to keep our selfs down but ready and convince that we could turn the score. Everyone needs to stay concentrate after a goal. 10 days ago we were able to turn a 0-2 against so it was a good indicator that it couldn’t be impossible for us. To be honest we had a good chances.

And 10′ after that, they were celebrating another goal, 0-3 (31′). The third one was after our corner attacking. We didn’t defense again as well as we should. I’ve already thought that play football recquires 200% each player. If you cannot give your maximum your opponent achieving his 101% can beat you easily. You never know how the game could go on but giving your best you will have a really good chance to win the game.

2nd HALF

In the half time and after a disappointing first half Jody was trying to encourage us. We are able to turn this bad result. We did 10 days ago. Its true that it was 0-2 against but we were having chances and it was just to be luckier thant the first half and score early. Also he emphasize to keep clean sheet because after 19 games he reminds us we only get once (maybe twice).

The whole team was convince with his speech. We started again absolutely attacking, having a good chances but missing out them. We could keep clean sheet for about 30′ and after a disappointing action between keeper, me and opponent… It supposed the next goal 0-4 (77′).

It seemed that we were unstructured. They found easily the channels. We were running a lot up and down. There was enough organization. We dominate the game with the ball, except when we didn’t press enough high.

I’m absolutely convince that our team is a really good football team. If we work hard as we did some games we are a really tough team. Hard to beat. We can play with an incredible high tempo: on pressing, terms of mantain the ball, intensity. I think we musn’t fall off when we cannot score and just be aware and keep defensively our intensity.

Just before at the end of the game, they scored the last goal, 0-5 (89′).

Halle, 14′ (0-1)

Onyemah, 21′ (0-2)

Stimson, 31′ (0-3)

Morgan, 77′ (0-4)

Pindy, 89′ (0-5)

We need to keep our concentration for 90 minutes. In the whole season we paid many mistakes about this term. We are playing good football but we need to keep work hard. Actually get a good results is costing us a lot. Our dynamic needs to change and I only know one way, just work harder than we’ve been doing now.

Have a good performances, good tempo, good intensity doesnt give you any extra point on the league. Unfortunately we need win. Even if we are playing good or bad the only think that shows what is gonna happen on the table is the ending result.

I think we just need to keep focused and use our strengthness. Most of us are young, we need to use that as opportunity to beat everyone: high levels of consistency, high pressing and never stop running. Try to dominate all tempos during the game and create a hell for our opponents and our own heaven.

Now could seem that is really hard to turn this situation but the league is still long. 30 games left are 90 points left, too. Just work, trust one each other and keep our shapes safe.
